Homestead
Helping first-time buyers actually understand the numbers in front of them.
Buying a first home means facing a wall of numbers you’ve never seen before - escrow, PMI, points, closing costs. Homestead wanted to make that wall feel like a staircase.
What we did
- Interviewed 22 first-time buyers mid-purchase to find exactly where confidence broke.
- Designed plain-language explainers that sit inline, right where the jargon appears.
- Built an affordability model people could actually argue with their partner about.
The metric we cared about wasn’t time-on-page. It was whether someone could explain their own mortgage back to us. Most could.
Open to contract work, full-time roles, and interesting conversations about hard design problems.
